CRUSADE of BARDS – Tales of The Seven Seas

Crusade of Bards wurde 2016 von Paolo Andreotti (Keyboards & Gesang) und Eleanor Tenebre (Gesang) gegründet, um in der Musik alle Lieblingsstile und -konzepte der Band miteinander vermischen zu können. Anfangs nur ein Studioprojekt, entwickelte es sich bald zu einer kompletten Live-Produktion.

Our piracy side, our Mediterranean background, it all comes out into an energetic, vibrant, and dynamic set. Auf diesem zweiten Album bieten „Crusade of Bards“ eine Mischung aus historisch inspirierten Songs und sozialen Themen. Paolo Andreotti (Keyboards & Gesang) ist der Texter – er liebt Geschichte und Geographie. Daher dreht sich das gesamte Konzept der Platte um die 7 Meere, 2 Songs für jedes Meer. Und jedes einzelne Lied handelt von wahren Geschichten, einem umfassenderen Konzept, das mit dem ersten Album „Tales of Bards & Beasts“ begann. Protagonist ist die Figur des „Barden“ und die Geschichten, Lieder und Mythen beziehen sich auf die verschiedenen besuchten Städte und Dörfer beziehen. Während sich das erste Album „Tales of Bards & Beasts“ mehr um Mythen und Legenden drehte, basiert „Tales of the Seven Seas“ hauptsächlich auf wahren historischen Ereignissen. Das Konzept findet sich auch in den musikalischen Aspekten wieder, wo traditionelle Instrumente, Skalen oder Klänge aus den Kulturen, die an den Ufern der sieben genannten Meere leben oder lebten, in die Songs eingemischt werden, um die perfekte Atmosphäre für den Hörer zu schaffen.

Dazu die Band: “With this album, we want to make a statement, we want the fans to really understand who Crusade of Bards is both musically and visually. We want them to open their minds, join us on our journeys through space and time, discover new stories and understand that we, as human beings, have changed very little. Our sins, our mistakes, our victories, and our feelings are not new or undiscovered. They are just there, floating on the ocean, waiting for us to collect them”.

Die erste Single „The Red Charade“ ist eine allegorische Kritik am Imperialismus und Kolonialismus, der im 17. Jahrhundert begann und sich langsam im Überlegenheitskomplex der westlichen Welt manifestierte. Die Texte ziehen klare Parallelen zwischen der modernen kapitalistischen Korruption und der alten aristokratischen Sucht nach Privilegien um jeden Preis.

“This song was one of the last ones to come up in the pre-production of the album but immediately stuck in our heads and we knew it would become a single. Its baroque-like riff, upbeat tempo, and the pauses almost gave the song a heartbeat of its own. Keyboardist Paolo Andreotti states: “The lyrics were also the more genuine to come up, without much preparation, without the historical research of the others. It felt almost like they were already buried in the song and I was just digging them up”. We all love different cultures and folklore and we think that the globalization that started with colonialism and imperialism has made it harder to appreciate all the different aspects of them. The Red Charade is this travesty that oligarchs disguise as a victory while their hands are full of the blood of innocent people.”, ergänzt die Band.
