NAPALM DEATH – RESENTMENT IS ALWAYS SEISMIC – A FINAL THROW OF THROES

NAPALM DEATH beglücken ihre Fans zwischendurch mit dem Mini-Album „Resentment is always seismic – A final throw of throes“.  

Seit 1981 lassen NAPALM DEATH regelmäßig mit gnadenlosen Killer-Releases erbeben. Bei ihrer neuen Mini-Album „Resentment is always seismic – A final throw of throes“ ist das nicht anders. NAPALM DEATH schwingen gewaltig die kreativ brutale Extreme-Metal-Punk-Keule und zeigen, was sie auch nach 40 Jahren draufhaben. Über 30 Minuten nehmen die Veteranen keine Gefangenen und lassen es mit unglaublicher Power mächtig krachen.

Wie das Mini-Album entstand erklärte Altmeister Barney Greenway selbst: “It was all recorded during the sessions for the last album, but as you know, we always record a shitload of stuff! We purposely said, right, we’re going to put a mini-album out for a change!
Being from the school of hoary old punk rockers, we like to do these stripped down releases. We recorded enough that we still had a lot of bonus tracks for the original album release, and we had all this extra stuff left over!”

Songtechnisch gibt es die von NAPALM DEATH gewohnten brutalen Nackenbrecher zwischen Punk und Grindcore. Der rasende Opener „Narcissus“ steht da dafür Pate. Auch bei „By Proxy“ und „Man Bites Dogged” geben die Jungs aus Birmingham brutal Vollgas. Dazwischen schleppt sich „Resentment always simmers“ aggressiv groovend dahin. Daneben haben NAPALM DEATH noch die zwei Cover im Gepäck. Das punkige „Don’t Need It” (Bad Brains cover) und das total abgefahrene „People Pie“ von der Industrial Noise Rock Ikone SLAB! Ähnlich wirre Kreativitäten hauen NAPALM DEATH mit „Slaver Through a Repeat Performance” das vor brutalen Twists nur so strotzt. Auch der Abschluss mit dem Dark Sky Burial-Remix von „Resentment is Always Seismic” des Mini-Albums ist ungewöhnlich, wie Barney Greenway erklärte: “These songs are pretty much an extension of the last album, but there’s a lot of crazy stuff on there and we really went for it. With the title track, Shane punted the idea of doing a remix, and I thought yeah, why not? We’ve always shared a love of things like Coil, and all that dark, soundscape stuff, so I was quite happy for him to do that. Him and Russ [Russell, producer] built the track, with all kinds of inanimate objects being thrown around in very unsavoury ways! [Laughs] It turned out really fucking good.”

Für ein Mini-Album lassen NAPALM DEATH es auf „Resentment is always seismic – A final throw of throes“ mächtigst krachen. Bei den Songs handelt es sich um absolute A-Ware, die auf das letzte Album vielleicht einfach nicht gepasst haben. Hier gibt es das volle Brett – nur in kleiner.
